City of Heyburn Council Meeting Wednesday, November 08, 2023 7:00 P.M.
The Council reviewed an estimate from MetroQuip Environment Equipment Solutions for the overhaul of the City’s VAC Truck – The Vac Truck is an essential piece of equipment used by every city department. It hasn’t had any major repairs since being purchased. The estimate was for complete overhaul. The Council approved the estimate for repair.
The Council was updated on the S & 19th project. The road is needing to be paved before asphalt stops being produced for the winter. The Council authorized the Mayor to spend necessary funds to complete the paving project.
The Council heard the Third reading of Ordinance No. 2023-680: Ordinance of the City of Heyburn, Rezoning Northern 1,103 Feet of the open field north of L Street and 21st Street, between the firestation and the storage units. The rezoning was from Commercial General to Residential High, amending the zoning map. After the reading, the Council voted in favor of the zoning change.
The Council reviewed a proposed change to Ordinance No. 2023-683, which is the city’s Animal Control (Dog) ordinance. The change would be to bring the cities ordinance in unison with all areas serviced by the Minidoka Joint Powers Animal Control & Shelter. No action was taken pending the formal recommendation from the animal control committee.
Mayor Dick Galbraith reported on his participation in The Blue Cross of Idaho’s Mayors Walking Challenge. His accomplishment of walking 10,000 steps a day, resulted in the city receiving a $500 Check.
The Council scheduled a Special Council Meeting, Nov 15th at 4pm to discuss Urban Renewal.
